Travel from Newark Liberty International Airport to the Exchange Place PATH Station in Jersey City, NJ?
I will be doing this trip on a weekday, how much will the total fare be? Is this plan correct? 1) Take Airtrain to Newark International Airport Station 2) From Airport Station, take NJ Transit train to Newark Penn Station 3) From Newark Penn Station, take PATH rail to Exchange Place Station So I should take the bus to Newark Station? I don't know which option to do with me lugging around a carryon. What do you think?

You can do it that way, but it might be faster (and less expensive) to take a bus. NJ Transit used to have a bus directly from the airport to Newark Penn Station; not sure if it still does.

Step 1: New Jersey Transit #62 and #67 goes to Newark for $1.35 Fare Zone. Make sure to get on Newark-bound, because if you got on Perth Amboy/Toms River-bound, you'll have to paid additional fare. Step 2: Get off at Newark Penn Station, purchase $1.75 single ride PATH ticket and take World Trade center train to Exchange Place.

My friend, if you have a carry-on, my advice take the train, which is faster. The route that you stated in your question is correct. The total fare $9.50, which is broken down as followed: NJ Transit/Airtrain from EWR to Penn Station Newark: $7.75 PATH Rail from Penn Station Newark to Exchange Place $1.75 Please note, when purchasing your NJ Transit ticket at the Newark Airport train station, an access charge of $5.50 is include with the NJ Transit ticket. Famous NY answered this question best. I would follow her advice. Also, I know that those buses have a relatively large section you can place your luggage on behind the driver's area. As long as you're not taking the bus during rush hour, I'm sure there will be room for your luggage. I think you're allowed one large luggage bag and one small back pack to carry with you at your seat on that particular bus. It goes directly from Newark Airport to Newark Penn Station where you can take the PATH train. Don't waste your time or money by taking two additional trains from the airport. I know the 62 bus runs frequently. You can go to NJtransit.com and find its exact schedule on there. It goes to all Terminals A, B, and C

take a train from Grand Central or a bus from the port authority bus station...., both are not too far from Central Park and I think that's in manhattan...

That depends on where you want to go in New Jersey, there are many WalMarts. Everything goes from Penn Station in Manhatten. But you will need to go to the website of NY/NJ Port Authority to find which bus or train will take you where you want to go. http://www.panynj.gov/CommutingTravel/ Also try New Jersey Transit for train schedules. http://www.njtransit.com/hp/hp_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=HomePageTo If you are going from the south end of Manhattan, the PATH from the World Trade Center site is now running again, so you can go from there.

Train or Bus....depending on where in Manhattan you might have to take both. but my first choice is Train. You can get to the Path from 33rd street. bring you right into Hoboken NJ and connect on NJ Transit to Secaucus hop on a cab tell them to walmart. Express buses bring travelers from Secaucus to the Port Authority Bus Terminal, near Times Square, in approximately 20 minutes. Trains from Secaucus Junction reach Penn Station New York in 9 minutes and Hoboken in 10 minutes. You may change to a PATH train to lower Manhattan in Hoboken. You can easily get a 1 bedroom in the Heights section of Jersey City for 1,200 to 1,400 and take the Kennedy Blvd mini-bus into 40th St to get to work. You can look at ads in the Hudson Reporter (that free paper in stores), the Jersey Journal or www.craigslist.com If you want a waterfront apartment, you will be paying up to 5,000 for it unless you get a share

What is the cheapest way I can travel from New Jersey to New York City by train or buss?
I'm going to be going to New York City alot during the summer and paying for NJTransit is getting expensive since I am a college student. So if anyone has ideas or alternatives to it to get me to NYC that'd be great. I am trying o leave from Summit, NJ or somewhere near that area.

You're already traveling to NYC the cheapest way. Suburban Bus lines goes through Summit to NYC but the price is way up there. Even if you buy a monthly ticket, it would cost much more than NJT.

Seems the only other alternative beside NJ transit is bus. From Summit get a ten trip pass -- Here is the link BUT it is 2008 pricing. http://www.lakelandbus.com/Fares.html there may be other options but that was the quickest to come up .

They are almost the same price.I believe the train is about $4 extra,thats because you get into NYC quicker.

You can take bus route 70 from the Summit train station to Newark Penn Station. Once at Newark Penn Station, take the PATH train to Manhattan. The fare on the bus is $2.60 one way ($5.20 round trip per day), and the fare on the PATH will cost you $1.75 each way ($3.50 round trip per day). You can get a discounted unlimited ride MetroCard at Newark Penn Station PATH station for $25 a week and ride both the PATH and the Subway in Manhattan for as many times as you wish.
